Artist Mark W. Brantley has so graciously donated this artwork he painted to help raise money for the Lake Murray Dam Swim.
He grew up in Irmo, SC attended Irmo High School from 1968-1970. He began swimming in Lake Murray in 1959 when he was just 6 years old and spent many hours thereafter on the lake swimming.
The Lake Murray Dam Swim has been an event he has participated in for over 12 years and drives from Charlotte, NC where he currently resides. He has loved every one of them. He is always curious if he is the oldest swimmer but so far there have been a few just a month or two older than him.
His motto is swim to the towers - race to the beach. Keep swimming, it has no age limit.
On behalf of the Lake Murray Dam Swim, we are very honored to have Mark paint this picture for us.
